Example costs (UK)

Increasing costs

Clearly from these examples it is impossible to account for all possibilities, the factors they will increase the post of moving to the UK. Transport costs if moving to the UK including storage (not factored in here), Those with dependants, from Non- EEA countries (outside Europe), based in larger cities such as London, in larger properties will all increase cost. We have not gone into details of work VISA types, this is best discussed directly with us.

Reducing costs

Factors reducing cost would include being a UK national, prepared to house share (rent a room), no dependants, have a good grasp of the english language (and pass tests required if not UK national) and be close to site of work limiting transportation costs. Whilst a GCC recognised EEA member may not be required to sit the TOC in light of the recently Brexit vote in favour for the UK to leave Europe this such not always be assumed to be the case in coming years.

Example

EXAMPLE 1. A new graduate, married, english, with no children that has graduated from a chiropractic college in the UK (as recognised by the GCC for practicing purposes) chooses to practice in Billericay. They are looking for a house. They would have to pay council tax however if choosing this option. They are considering how much in setup costs they would need for 2 months.

Being a UK national will significantly reduces setup costs, also minimise risk for employer as more financial stability is present.

EXAMPLE 3: A new graduate looking to practice in the UK from NZ, Australia, or USA. Needs to sit TOC exams and practice in London. Single, no dependants. Looking to sit exam in Jan 2017. They are considering how much in setup costs they would need for 2 months.

These prices will be slightly more given the location. It maybe cheaper for the associate to commute to area of work and result in further commuting time of 30mins to 1.5 hrs. This would involve further costs in transport tickets.

EXAMPLE 4: A graduate comes to London from a EEA member under the EU general directives, which include also recognition by the GCC. They are single, no dependants. Looking to sit exam in Jan 2017. They want to live in London and are prepared to pay more for this option staying in Canary Wharf in a one bedroom tower apartment! They are considering how much in setup costs they would need for 2 months.

** The benefits by entering under the EU general directives (currently!) is they would not be required to sit TOC (which reduces time to obtain an associate, nor would they need a work VISA (currently). They would however be required to see a language test where their first national language is not english. The expense however would be counter-balanced by the significantly higher costs living in London.
